CherryFramework 4. How to re-install a theme

If you performed some unnecessary changes on your site, accidentally broke some template files or disordered sample pages content, and if you want to start from scratch and re-install the template with sample data, this tutorial will help you to do it properly. This tutorial is going to show you how to re-install a CherryFramework 4 based template on your WordPress site.

CherryFramework 4. How to re-install a theme

WordPress engine re-installation

NOTE: To re-install the template sample data properly, you should clear your database and re-install WordPress engine. If you re-upload the template sample data over the existing database tables, it can cause errors on your site.

  1. Connect to your FTP account or open the File Manager in your Hosting Control panel. Find wp-config.php file in the root WordPress installation directory on your server and rename it to wp-config_old.php. With this change you disconnect your site from the database.

  2. Open your site database using PhpMyAdmin tool. You can locate it in your hosting Cpanel.

  3. Select your database, check all tables in it and drop them:

  4. Open your site in the browser and follow the installation steps: insert your database details and click Run the Install button, then specify your site title and insert WordPress admin details.

Sample data installation

NOTE: Before you proceed, make sure you have downloaded the template to your computer and unzipped it. You can download the theme using the link on the template delivery page. Check your email account for template delivery email.

  1. Log into your WordPress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Themes menu, activate Cherry Framework theme there and then activate the child themeXXXXX (where XXXXX is the number of your child theme):

  2. Navigate to Plugins menu and activate all template plugins there. You can select the required plugins and use Bulk Actions option to activate all plugins at once (see the screenshot below):

  3. Navigate to Tools -> Cherry Import menu. Click Browse local files button, in the appeared window navigate to the "theme/sample_data" directory from the template package on your PC and upload all files you see there to WordPress:

    Just hit CTRL+A or Command+A to select all of them and click Open:

  4. When the upload is done, click the Continue Install button to proceed:

    The sample data uploading and installation process may take some time depending on your server settings. Please be patient.

  5. Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Cherry WordPress Theme:

    Now your site should look and work as the template demo and you can start to modify it.

Theme files re-uploading (if it’s required)

NOTE: You can skip this step, if you did not perform any changes in the Cherry Framework and you child themeXXXXX files.

  1. Connect to your FTP account or open the File Manager in your Hosting Control panel.

  2. Navigate to wp-content/themes directory and upload cherryframework4 and themeXXXXX previously extracted archives from the template package/themes folder on your PC to this directory, replacing the available files on your server:

  3. In your WordPress admin panel navigate to Appearance -> Themes menu, activate Cherry Framework theme there and then activate the child themeXXXXX (where XXXXX is the number of your child theme).
