Hello, this guide is going to show you how to display WordPress images in columns and rows.

Using WordPress default Gallery shortcode

WordPress is a user-oriented platform and one can feel this even using the clean engine, without any additional tools. For example, there is a gallery shortcode available that allows you to organize your images in a grid without having to make efforts.

  1. First, you need to open any page for editing, or create a new one at the Pages -> All pages menu.

  2. Once it’s done, click the ‘Add Media button above the page’s body to start inserting your media files (photos in our case).

  3. You can either upload images from your computer or choose the previously uploaded ones from the library – it’s up to you, choose the preferred option and click on a few images to select them.

  4. Next, switch to the gallery by pressing the ‘Create Gallery’ label at the top left and click on the ‘Create A New Gallery’ button at the bottom right corner.

  5. Define the parameters of your gallery – such as the number of columns, random order, images links, etc.

  6. When you’re done with the settings, feel free to use the ‘Insert Gallery’ option and view your gallery added to the page!

Using Elementor plugin

WordPress default gallery is great, but it might seem very simple, and this is the point where additional plugins start helping us in making the perfect website in an easy way. Your theme might include the Elementor plugin with the JetElements add-on that makes even inexperienced users feel like great developers – without having to learn how to code.

  1. In order to create a gallery with Elementor, you still need to open any existing site page or create a new one at the Pages -> All pages menu.

  2. Once it’s done, click the ‘Edit With Elementor’ button above the page’s body.

  3. Look for the ‘General Elements’ section at the left side of the editing window and drag the ‘Image Gallery’ widget to the page’s content area.

  4. Next, configure your newly added widget – use the ‘+Add Images’ button in the Content tab to insert your photos, define the number of columns, select the preferred image size, etc.

  5. You can also switch to the Style and Advanced tabs at the top of the widget to set some specific styling for the gallery items. It’s an optional change that allows you to hide the gallery on certain devices, for example. Play with the settings to find the set of options that will match your needs.

  6. When you’re done with the settings, feel free to press the ‘Save’ button at the bottom and view your gallery added to the page!
