This tutorial shows how to install the Drupal 7.x engine.

  1. By default the Drupal engine zip file inludes the Drupal folder with all files. We have downloaded the Drupal engine, unzipped it and zipped all Drupal files directly. This way the Drupal files will be unzipped directly to the desired location.

  2. Upload Drupal engine files. You can do that using your hosting file manager or FTP software depending on your hosting provider. Unzip the files if you have uploaded the zip file using your hosting file manager.

  3. Open your web site and follow the installation instructions. Select the Standard profile and language, set database access details.

    If you have any issues with creating a database/getting database access details, please contact your hosting provider for help and assistance.

  4. Specify the site information, click on Save and continue.

    Do I have to have a dedicated server for this? Is this strictly for professionals?

      You are free to use the Drupal CMS on a shared hosting server or even on local server. The CMS and the Drupal templates are user oriented so you don’t have to be a professional to work with it.
