This tutorial shows how to manage modules positions and assign them to certain pages in Joomla 3.x.
Modules in Joomla are used to output some content in desired places (positions). They can display objects such as menu, login form, text block, newsletter subscribe form, banner, search field, etc.
In the Joomla 3.x Module Manager (Extensions -> Module Manager), you can assign your modules to a certain position . You can see all available modules positions here. But please note that modules positions in Joomla 3.x are defined per template.
You can check the map with available modules positions on the preview page of your template:
In order to change module position, you should perform the following:
First, open Joomla admin panel and go to Extensions > Module Manager:
On the appeared screen you can see the list of modules that are used in your template and on the right, next to every module, you can see its position:
Select any module and click on it:
Navigate to Module tab and on the right you will see Position field with all available positions.
After clicking the Position select box, you can see all positions available for your template.
To change the position, select any position you like and click Save button.
Let’s see how we can assign module to a certain page.
Navigate to Menu Assignment tab and there you can see Module Assignment field with variants of pages selection.
In Menu Selection field you can select page or pages where you want to show module.
Save the changes. We can see that module appeared on the selected page.
