Preparations

There are several things you should do before you start working with your website.

1. View the template preview page and check Joomla engine version required.

2. Make sure you have all necessary software for the template customization.

Both Joomla version and software requirements could be found at the template preview page.

Note! The template details may vary from the specified above

Even if you are planning to order the template customization from some third party company you need specific software to extract the files from the template package.

WinZip for Windows OS and Stuffit Expander for MAC OS

3. Contact your hosting provider and make sure your server meets the Joomla engine requirements.

4. Make sure you already ordered a domain name from your hosting provider. Otherwise you won’t be able to run the website online.

5. Make sure you already created new MySQL database using the hosting control panel. Your Joomla website will need it. Feel free to check the detailed video tutorial on how to create a database

Engine Download

The initial step would be the downloading of the Joomla engine. Make sure you are downloading the correct version that suites your template requirements. You can find the template requirements at the template preview page.

Joomla engine could be downloaded from the official website at Joomla.org

The download procedure is the same as for any other file. Click the Download link and in the appeared window click Save button. The downloaded file will be available in your Downloads folder.

After the downloading you need to extract the files from the downloaded Joomla package. You can use the default extracting software or use the downloaded WinZip or Stuffit Expander applications.

Engine installation

When you are done downloading the Joomla engine package and extracting the files you can start the installation.

1. Upload the Joomla engine files from the downloaded package to your hosting server. You can use your hosting control panel file manager or the third party FTP manager as FileZilla, CureFTP etc. Check the tutorial on how to upload fles to the hosting server.

2. To begin the installation procedure open your browser and in the address bar type your website address and root to the Joomla installation directory.

For example:if you uploaded Joomla engine to your web-server root directory (www or http-docs) the root to the Joomla installation would be http://your-domain-name.
In case you uploaded them to some sub-directory the root would be: http://your-domain-name/sub-directory

Please check the following detailed video tutorials on how to install the Joomla engine to your hosting server.

When the Joomla engine installation is complete you can start working with your purchased Joomla template.
