This tutorial shows how to manage Minimum Product Quantity in Cart in Magento store.

Minimum Product Quantity is usually set up when you need customers to add more than one piece of product to cart.

Navigate to the System -> Configuration -> Inventory tab of Magento admin panel. Find the Product Stock Options heading and Minimum Qty Allowed in Shopping Cart field under it.
- Click the Add Minimum Qty button next to it:

Select customer group you would like to set Minimum Quantity for. Next, fill out the Minimum Qty field and Save changes:
Please note that this change will be applied to all the products on your site.

Now when customer clicks the Add to Cart button, cart will automatically add number of items set in the Minimum Qty field. In case customer decreases number of products manually, the corresponding error message will appear:

You can set Minimum Quantity for each product individually as well.

Open your product and navigate to the Inventory tab under the Catalog -> Manage products tab of Magento admin panel. Uncheck the use Config Settings option.

Fill out the Minimum Qty Allowed in Shopping Cart field on a product inventory page ad save changes:

Make sure to clear Magento cache to apply changes to front-end.
