This tutorial shows how to manage currencies and set the default currency in PrestaShop.

1. Open the Prestashop admin section and go to Localization->Currencies. In this section we can edit existing currencies or add new ones.

2. Click on an existing currency like Dollar. You can change Currency name, conversion rate and format. You can also enable/disable decimals as well as specify if there should be spacing after the currency sign.

3. Let’s go ahead and add new currency.

3.1. Specify Currency name. We have used GBP as an example.

3.2. Now we need to set ISO code. You can find the ISO code and Numeric ISO codes for your currency at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_4217. Alternatively you can use a search engine in order to locate ISO values for your currency.

3.3. Now we need to specify Currency symbol. You can find a list of currency symbols at http://www.xe.com/symbols.php. Alternatively you can use a search engine in order to locate currency symbols for your currency.

3.4. Specify the conversion rate. Conversion rate relates to Default Currency.

3.5 Set Currency format, Decimals and Spacing. Be sure to enable the currency. You can find screenshots of currency settings below.

3.6. New currency appears in Currency list now.

4. In order to set Default Currency you need to go to Localization->Localization.

4.1. Select the default currency and save the changes. Be sure to update currency rates (in case you have several currencies).

5. We have opened our website using another browser and now we can see that the default currency is changed.
