So, let’s learn how to do that.

  1. Log into your Prestashop administration area, go to Preferences ->SEO & URL’s section. Scroll down to locate the “Base URI” field. Change the URL from existing to the new one, e.g. from /andre/prestashop/shop/ to /andre/prestashop/:

    Click “Save” button at the bottom right:

  2. Now, access your FTP or hosting control panel File Manager and navigate to the directory Prestashop is currently installed in. Highlight all the files and copy/move it from sub-directory to the root:

  3. Open your web-site using updated URL and check it – the site is now displayed in the root directory. We have successfully moved the website from sub-directory to the root.
