   The WordPress hosted option is a lot more beginner friendly. With it you can only make a blog and try yourself in blogging. That means that you cannot run commercial websites with WordPress hosted option. It is only good for people who want to try blogging. The good thing about it that it’s absolutely free. WordPress provides you with the sub-domain on the main domain and that is how people access your blog.

2. There is this also a self-hosted option with which you have to install WordPress on your own hosting. Some says that with this self-hosted option WordPress websites, that are produced and hosted in this manner, account on around 19% of all websites on the Internet. That’s a lot.

   As you may have guess from this explanation, or from our previous episodes, the self-hosted option is lot more flexible. It has a lot more control on your website in the end.

   The self hosted option is a lot better for bigger or commercial websites. With it you can produce any kind of website including the business website, the e-commerce website, etc.

Why so popular?

There are a lot of reasons why WordPress website has become so popular.

1. At first it was just a regular blogging platform. That was nothing absolutely special about it. But in a years, when a lot of factors came into play with WordPress, it has involved into a big ecosystem with its own infrastructure. The whole industry is built around WordPress. That’s all because of the awesome community that they have, which includes the WordPress foundation and people building plugins and other stuff for WordPress.

2. They also work very correct about their updates policy. They have been realizing their updates on a regular basis, which allow them easily and quickly fix all the bugs that where located in the system.

3. And the biggest reason is that WordPress is a very versatile. You can build any kind of website with WordPress, whether it is business website or it’s an e-commerce store, some forum or it’s a social network. Everything of that is possible with WordPress. There is a lot a lot of WordPress plugins available out there. which allow you to build anything that you can think of.
