May 19, 2016
In this tutorial you will learn the way to re-install a plugin manually in WordPress.
If, for some reason, you are not able to update a plugin via the WordPress admin panel, you can just re-upload it manually via FTP or File Manager. To do it, you should perform the following steps:
Log in your WordPress admin panel, navigate to the Plugins menu and deactivate a plugin you need to re-upload.
Then click Delete link under the plugin title to remove the old plugin version.
In the appeared window click the "Yes, delete these files" button to remove all plugin files from the server.
After the selected plugin is deleted, navigate to wp-content/plugins directory on your server using FTP manager or File Manager in the Hosting Control Panel. Upload the new plugin version archive to this directory and extract it there. You will see the plugin folder appeared after extracting the archive files.
Finally, you should go back to the Plugins menu in the admin panel, refresh the page and activate the updated plugin.
This is the end of the tutorial. Now you know how to re-install a plugin manually in WordPress.
