Joomla 3.x. How to make embedded YouTube/Vimeo video autoplay

This tutorial will show you how to make embedded YouTube/Vimeo video autoplay in a Joomla Template.

We assume you already know how to add video to an article in Joomla.

YouTube

Follow the steps below to find out the iFrame code:

1. Open the video you want to embed on YouTube.

2. Click on Share -> Embed button.

3. Copy code from iframe box:

   

4. Create/edit article and paste embed video code in HTML editing mode. To do that, click on a Toggle editor button at the bottom:

5. Click on ContentArticle Manager tab:

   

6. Click on  Toggle editor  to paste the Youtube Video embed code:

   

7. Add ?autoplay=1 to the end of the video URL:

   

8. Save the article and refresh your site to see changes applied. Video will now play automatically.

   

Vimeo

Follow the steps below to find out the iFrame code:

1. Open video you want to embed on Vimeo.

2. Click on Share button.

   

3. Check the ‘Autoplay this video’ radio button. Copy code from Embed box:

   

4. Create/edit an article and paste video embed code in HTML editing mode. To do that, click on a Toggle editor button at the bottom:

5. Navigate to the ContentArticle Manager tab:

   

6. Click on Toggle editor to paste the Vimeo Video embed code:

   

7. Save the article and refresh your site to see the changes. Video will now play automatically.
