This tutorial shows how to change website scroll speed in WordPress.

There is jQuery plugin Smooth Scroll used to manage scroll speed of your website.

In order to change the website scroll speed, you should perform the following:

  1. Locate srSmoothscroll plugin in your theme’s js files.

  2. Usually this plugin is enabled in themeXXXXX/js folder inside of custom.js or my_script.js file of your child theme.

  3. Alternatively, (like in our case) the scroll plugin code can be in jquery.simplr.smoothscroll.min.js file.

  4. Open the file with any code editor.

  5. Locate the following code:

    jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
      if(!device.mobile() && !device.tablet()){
      $.srSmoothscroll({
      step:150,
      speed:800
      });
      }
      });

  6. Change the speed value to the desired one:

Website Speed Optimization Service

Website performance is crucial. Your website should not only look great but it has to load all the elements fast. It helps to provide visitors with the best possible user experience. However, website optimization is quite challenging, as you need to consider numerous factors. Luckily, you can avoid spending your time looking for elements that decrease your website performance. If you don’t want to waste your time optimizing your website, then you should consider getting your website optimized by our specialists. Our professionals know all the aspects of website optimization without any losses. We work with CMS websites, like WordPress and Joomla. We also can optimize online stores that are built using OpenCart, Prestashop, Magento, WooCommerce.

Our team will start with analyzing. We will find places that affect performance negatively. Then we will focus on such optimization options as:

  • Content and database optimization
  • Source file minimization
  • Compressing and caching

We will also provide you with a very detailed report. The report shows how fast your website becomes. The whole optimization process doesn’t take much time – 3 days for CMS websites and 5 days for online stores. You also required to provide us with all the necessary information before we start optimizing your website.

It’s important to make sure that your website works fast. It’s especially important if you have an online store. Visitors do not want to wait too long. If a visitor experiences any speed issues – they may leave your website. It means that you can lose a potential client. CMS websites may include a huge amount of content which may require much time to load. It’s essential to make sure that a visitor can get what they want without making them wait too long. If your website doesn’t perform well (it doesn’t load all the necessary content fast enough) you cannot compete with other websites that have the same content. Website optimization is critical as it helps to improve user experience, which helps to increase the visitors’ rate.
